Job Description:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and building communications networks supporting multi-tenant customer base. Responsible for learning new platforms, developing, and deploying multi-tenant enabled solutions, and training team members on operations. TheSenior Network Engineer will be responsible for planning and implementing major changes to core routing and switching infrastructure, major network expansions, The Network Engineer will be tasked with the planning implementation of enhancements and analyzing customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Develop automated solutions to monitor network resources for health and configuration compliance.

  • Work closely with systems and security teams to define requirements and engineer solutions using Zero-Trust ideals.

  • Assist the team with procurement support as required.

  • Providing technical training, documentation, and technical assistance to Help Desk personnel and other organizations.

  • Work closely with vendors to design and implement new systems.

  • Maintain – and potentially acquire – the certifications necessary to meet the evolving needs of the mission.

  • Perform on-site data center visits for installations, reconfigurations, and device decommissioning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Experience: 7+ years of demonstrated Network Engineering experience.

  • Security Clearance: Public Trust.

  • Certifications: CCNA, CCNP or equivalent industry certification is preferred.

  • Skills and Experience: Knowledge and experience with routing, switching and encryption protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, MACSEC, etc.) Experience designing and implementing routed networks in multi-vendor environments requiring high availability. Knowledge and experience with MP-BGP concepts including Layer 3 VPN over MPLS and EVPN. Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of network appliances and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

  • Implement and maintain the network in accordance with BFS policies.

  • Performs complex network development and design work.

  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.

  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends solutions and technologies to improve operations.

  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented BFS requirements.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.

  • Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

  • Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.

  • Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 7+ years of related Network Engineering experience.

  • Current CCNP Routing and Switching or CCNP Enterprise

  • Strong understanding of multi-enclave network environments. Experience with IBM z/Cloud systems a plus.

  • Strong understanding of ISE design, protocols, profiles, management, and functions.

  • Knowledge and experience with data center networking, hyper-converged server infrastructure, network storage

  • Programming/scripting languages: Python, Visual Basic for Applications (Office), Bash

  • BA/BS degree or master’s degree – may substitute additional years of experience.

  • Must possess and completed the Cisco CCNA certification, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)

  • In-depth experience with building, implementing, and supporting IPSEC VPN solutions.

  • Directly related experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets.

  • Hands-on experience with Firepower, Aruba, and Palo Alto network appliances.

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
