The FSQA Manager will participate in the development and implementation of various food, product safety & quality policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and brand requirements. The role will deliver on key results through providing technical support for food and product safety, quality and regulatory compliance to all CHEF’STORES, participate in strategic projects supporting the Company’s commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of food and product safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and provide support on a variety of food safety, quality and regulatory issues that arise from day-to-day CHEF’STORE operations.

This position has bee segmented as 100% Virtual/Remote meaning The work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and promote effective business relationships between corporate FSQA and assigned CHEF’STORES.

  • Support continuous improvement in the areas of sanitation, food and product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct compliance assessments and support CHEF’STORE corrective and preventative action processes through coaching and indirect influencing of key stakeholders.

  • Assist development and implement appropriate onboarding strategies for new CHEF’STORE locations teaming up with appropriate cross-functional leaders.

  • Analyze current food safety processes for improvement to support delivery of the Company’s key results. Participate in the development of new food safety and quality specific policies and procedures that impact CHEF’STORES.

  • Collaborate with other functions including Supply Chain, Operations, Inventory Control, Finance, Merchandising, Transportation, Category Management, Sales and Field Leadership on various matters impacting food and product safety, quality and regulatory compliance and CHEF’STORE operations.

  • Support CHEF’STORES following regulatory visits and responses to non-compliance records.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager that may include but not limited to: special projects, acquisitions, or other food safety and quality-impacting initiatives for the company.

Relationships

  • Internal: Close collaboration with US Foods’ food safety and quality functions, CHEF’STORE teams, Supply Chain, Operations, Merchandising, Sales, Category Management, Internal Audit, Ethics & Compliance, and Legal.

  • External: Government regulatory agencies, manufacturers, vendors, customers, consultants, certification bodies and third-party stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive relevant experience in driving business results in food safety, quality or regulatory compliance required. Must have at least three (3) years of management/supervisory experience.

  • Strong leadership and coaching qualities.

  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision and possess outstanding initiative and drive for success.

  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including the ability to relate and positively influence at all organizational levels.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills for large and small groups, able to explain complex business and regulatory requirements, stats and figures in an impactful manner with clarity and precision, skilled at adjusting message for audience based on experience levels and roles in the organization.

  • Balanced self-confidence and personal humility. A proactive, energetic and enthusiastic approach to all tasks, great or small, and a finely developed sense of humor.

  • Ability to efficiently use tools including Office 365 suite, Teams, Adobe, etc.

  • Frequent travel (60-80%), including regular overnight travel is required and candidate must live close to a major airport due to heavy travel requirements.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food safety, public health, science or equivalent experience required.

Certifications/Training:

  • Seafood HACCP Certification desired.

  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual desired.

  • Continuous improvement training desired.

  • ServSafe and/or Certified Food Protection Manager desired.

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and ability to travel by automobile, airplane and train.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a retail environment.

  • Certification in auditing, ASQ, other.
