Job description: ABOUT THE TEAM

The Marketing Asset team focuses on building scalable platforms for creation, management, and delivery of Nike’s digital media. We seamlessly integrate with upstream products and brand planning and to downstream content management systems, and social and mobile experiences. We use the cloud to scale our application, and technologies like CDN’s to help provide reliable access to our assets around the globe. Nike’s Marketing Assets platforms is a key driver for automation and delivery of dynamic media content, powering Nike’s Global, Personalized, Consumer anywhere experiences and journeys for the world’s athletes.

We build solutions for the management and delivery of images and video at the scale for Nike’s global athlete community. We rely upon agile principles to devise cloud-based solutions to build a best-in-class digital asset management and delivery platform. We participate in the open-source community and partner with key vendors. At our core, we are a team with diverse talents and interests that strive to build world-class platforms. YOUR ROLE

As a principal engineer, you will architect, design, and deploy end-to-end solutions that transform our business. You will be a technology contributor and will be expected to demonstrate code and product ownership; informing product owners on technology-related business problems; formulating options and assessing their relative merits and risk to figure out the best solution.

In this role, you will keep up to date with the world of platforms and build a capability maturity vision to ensure that we are always aiming to be outstanding. Mentor software developers on the team, conduct code reviews, ensure that all the work meets industry standards. Assist in solving and resolving production issues. Work with multi-functional engineering and architecture teams at Nike to build the future of sports.

– Set goals, vision and create technical roadmap for the team

– Collaborate with a globally distributed team

– Work closely with the product management team to ensure we’re building the best products

– Partner with Product, architecture, and engineering to create, influence the product backlog and make decisions on technical debt and feature road maps

– Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities

– Share takeaways through blogs, talks, and discussions across Nike

– Drive multi-functional alignment and technical delivery of major capabilities across value streams

QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training

– 7 to 10 years of software engineering and architecture experience

– 2+ years of experience in working with multinational teams across time zones

– 3+ years of engineering leadership experience as an individual contributor or manager

– 3+ years of experience in data and analytics, including experience with data engineering, data pipelines, transactional and analytics data design, streaming and batch data processing

– Proficient in modern software architectural principles and patterns (REST, DDD, microservices, etc)

– Front-end web application exposure (React, Redux, GraphQl or similar)

– Hands-on experience working in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment (e.g. Amazon EC2/ECS, GCE, Rackspace, Azure, etc.)

– A solid understanding and experience managing high volume, variety, and velocity data such as (e.g telemetry data from sensors, clickstream, or unstructured data like images and speech.

– Working knowledge of statistical and predictive modeling concepts and disciplines and familiarity with model development, management, and deployment in production.

– Continuous Integration and automated testing experience

– Marketing technology experience is highly desired

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and business-facing
