We’re hiring a Director, Facilities!

The Director, Facilities will manage the performance of the Facility Management team to ensure effective facilities service delivery, including acquisitions and closures. Support team in achieving prompt completion of reactive and preventive maintenance, emergency response and select Capital Improvement projects, including playground upgrades. Use practical problem solving for complex issues related to Landlords and Vendor Service delivery. Support Facility Managers in closely managed Capital and Operating budgets and variance reporting. Build interdepartmental relationships that foster trust, confidence and positivity within Bright Horizons.

What you will be doing in this role:

  • Assist the Sr. Director in establishing and monitoring departmental policies, procedures and protocols. Support departmental strategic initiatives, coordination and delivery of Facility Management Services to Centers and Operations teams.

  • Manage and monitor a team of Facility Managers for performance, compliance with departmental protocols, KPIs, customer service, R&M and Capital project execution.

  • Set annual goals for team and coach through to successful completion. Conduct annual performance reviews.

  • Assist in training and mentoring team members: Both Facility Managers and Facility Coordinators.

  • Consistently meet with team members as a group and one on one to ensure right track/forward progress.

  • Participate in Operations SVP, DVP, and RM meetings to socialize department procedures, protocol and initiatives.

  • Work closely with construction on larger projects. Support FM as liaison to center staff when necessary.

  • Monitor national weather conditions and work w Sr Director, FMs and Operations personnel to ensure preparedness when fires, hurricanes, blizzard, tornadoes or other natural disasters threaten.

  • May manage a small portfolio of centers when ‘player/coach’ model is in place.

  • Cover for FMs during PTO, holidays, sickness, etc.

  • Approve expense reports and Purchase Orders for team members.

  • Continually review vendor management and vendor procurement practices for highest quality service delivery, partnering with vendors who understand the child development space.

  • Responsible for utilizing all aspects of the Corrigo platform as a management and expense monitoring tool.

  • Review FM capital renovation programs and timetables, review budget and cost estimates with FM and Operations, when necessary.

  • Review FM Monthly finance/variance reports, identify outliers, alert finance to accrue for forecasted expenses where necessary.

  • Conduct site investigations for Acquisitions and Transitions when called upon to do so.

What we hope you will bring to this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degreeor equivalent relevant experience

  • 10years facility management experience

  • Additional years of experience would be considered in lieu of the applicable degree

  • Strong leadership in personnel management and development skills

  • Ability to motivate team members

  • Extensive experience with Corporate Facilities Management practices, software tools, strategy, organization and budgets

  • Empathy, superior customer relations and communication skills.

  • Strong sense of urgency and problem solving in emergency situations.

  • Technical understanding of building envelope and systems; experience with preventative maintenance programs

  • Cost sense

  • Experience and/or ability to work with a diverse group

The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $125,000.

Compensation Range: 120,000 – $125,000
