Our Team (Advertising and Marketing Technology)

Our Advertising and Marketing Technology team is part of Walmart Global Tech. We are group of engineers and data scientists. We build technology to connect Walmart’s suppliers & sellers to the shoppers online and in-stores. We use cutting edge machine learning and optimization algorithms on billions of ad impressions and Walmart’s proprietary online and in-store data to facilitate customer’s shopping journey. We are building the next generation omni-advertising platforms to deliver performance and value at scale.

What You Will Do

As Director of Engineering for AdTech team, you will lead our Display booking application development. You will be managing a global team of 30+ engineers over time. The role entails the following responsibilities:

  • Technically lead and mentor a high-performance engineering team, engineering managers and provide strategic direction and guidance to ensure delivery of high-quality products
  • Build and manage relations with the business partners and understand their business requirements. Closely work with the Product Management, Architects, and cross-functional teams
  • Work with stakeholders to define the future roadmap of the products, adopt latest technology innovation wherever necessary
  • Build tools and automation to prevent re-occurrence of problems to mission-critical products and services and engender reliability and availability, starting with metrics and measurements
  • Define engineering practices, product development patterns and drive products development to scale to Walmart requirements.
  • Follow agile methodologies and program practices in product development lifecycle and focus on team productivity improvements using right tools and processes.
  • Hire talent, mentor and grow the team.
  • Proactively monitor, identify and resolve customer issues.

What You Will Bring

  • Domain expertise in AdTech focused on Display and Video
  • Strong engineering leadership expertise in medium to large size company.
  • Proven experience in hiring and mentoring world-class engineering teams.
  • Leading large scale systems in fast-paced environments,
  • Expertise in multiple distributed technologies (e.g. Spark/Storm, Kafka, Key Value Stores, Caching, etc.) and web application stacks (ReactJS, Node, Java)
  • Experience managing web application teams
  • Experience in one or more public cloud technologies like GCP, Azure, etc.
  • Experience in working in large teams using CI/CD and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 12+ years of industry experience.

Minimum Qualifications…

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related field OR 8 years’ experience in software

engineering or related field.

3 years’ supervisory experience.

Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years’ experience in software engineering
