POTS is an energetic, fun-loving pediatric occupational therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy team seeking experienced pediatric occupational therapists and COTAs who want to make a difference in children’s lives and maximize each child’s potential. We have a highly experienced dedicated staff that provides cutting edge OT, PT and speech therapy in our state of the art sensory gyms. Our clients range from birth through 21 years of age. Primary therapeutic approaches include sensory integration treatment, SOS feeding, Floortime, Handwriting Without Tears, listening therapies, NDT, motor learning, and biomechanical approaches. Among the areas we address are sensory processing, praxis, self-regulation, self-care, handwriting, gross and fine motor development, visual perception, and feeding. We are unique in our commitment to evaluate and treat the whole child and partner with the important people in a child’s life.

Pediatric Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are looking for full time and part-time pediatric occupational therapists, COTAs and feeding therapists with strong treatment and evaluation skills who are able to effectively work with children in a sensory gym, virtually, out of doors, and in public and private schools. The best candidates are therapists with demonstrated leadership ability who are upbeat, organized, self-motivated and problem solvers and want to be part of a team of a dedicated team of therapists.

  • Evaluate new patients in person and virtually
  • Provide occupational therapy services to children birth through 21 using the therapeutic approaches that best meet the child’s unique needs
  • Design and monitor effective home programs, sensory diets, and school strategies, as needed, that meet the child’s needs and family’s capacity for follow-through
  • Provide occupational therapy services within a private school classroom that enable children to better function and thrive in that environment
  • Collaborate with parents and teachers to set functional goals in person and virtually
  • Participate in team meetings and workshops
  • Participate in program development, such as summer camp programs, after-school groups, and feeding groups

Pediatric Occupational Therapist Required Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • 3+ years experience providing pediatric occupational therapy to children in a sensory gym and in schools. Experience in treating children with a wide range of challenges, including Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism
  • NJ Occupational Therapy License; NBCOT
  • Desire to work long term in a warm supportive environment
  • Compassionate, caring, collaborative, willing to go the extra mile for your families
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytic abilities
  • Willingness to work in our Teaneck and Waldwick locations, out of doors, virtually and in local schools
  • Ability to meet the child where they are and build a warm therapeutic relationship with the child and family
  • Ability to conduct assessments and evaluations using standardized evaluation tools and clinical observations to determine the child’s strengths and challenges, collaborate on goal setting with caregivers, and generate a comprehensive report of findings
  • Provide effective treatment sessions to meet the child’s functional goals
  • Experience treating clients within the classroom and collaborating with teachers
  • Excellent communication skills with parents, children, and co-workers
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Specialty certifications such as sensory processing, Floortime, Handwriting Without Tears, Brain Gym, Reflex Integration, Feeding (SOS; AEIOU) are a plus
  • Experience with children birth to three, and on the autism spectrum
  • Handling skills and experience with neurodevelopmental approaches a plus
  • Advanced training in SOS, AEIOU, or other recognized feeding techniques preferred

FULL-TIME Hours must include some “after school hours” and/or Sundays

PART-TIME hours are after 3:30 Mon.-Thurs. and/or Sundays, for a minimum of 15 hours

Salary with benefits commensurate with experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
