The role

NetApp’s Office of the CTO team is looking for talented, self starting individuals with a background in data engineering. This role will primarily focus on influencing direction on existing and future solutions built around the open source ecosystem.

What you’ll bring

  • Highly proficient with working with open source packages & ecosystems like:
  • Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, AL2, Debian)
  • Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • NoSQL databases (Apache Cassandra, CouchDB, MongoDB as examples)
  • Data Pipelines, ETL, ELT, Apache Spark
  • messaging services (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache Redis)
  • Highly proficient with building data oriented solutions with modern cloud architectures on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, & Google Cloud Platform
  • An amazing attitude and a passion for sharing their knowledge across a wide variety of mediums (blogs, videos, other technical collateral), collaborating across multiple engineering teams to craft amazing solutions, and engaging with customers at conferences & briefings as needed
  • 3+ years experience in architecting, implementing &/or selling cloud native data engineering solutions

Interactions

  • You must work effectively with staff to executive leadership level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties
  • Limited supervision and direction is provided, as this individual can operate and drive strategic results without boundaries and set priorities independently
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor, influencer, and subject matter expert in the field of data engineering
  • To be successful, you must demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others
  • Often acts as a mentor to both senior and junior engineers

Education and Experience

Typically requires a minimum of 3+ years of related experience and cloud certifications

This is a technical position. You must have or be able to quickly develop a solid understanding of cloud-native. You will need to test combinations of the services to develop solutions. You must also be able to clearly communicate in verbal and written form. Further, the ideal candidate will be able to discover gaps in our current offerings and help determine methods to close those gaps.

Colorado Residents Only: If the Company determines this role will be performed in Colorado, the starting salary for this position is (.9 compa*). This role could be eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid Time off (PTO), Company bonus, Employee stock purchase plan, and restricted stocks (RSU’s) *. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law.
