The Health Equity Researcher/Senior Researcher will bring expertise in health equity; root causes that drive inequities including the social and societal determinants of health; and understanding of equitable and culturally responsive approaches to conducting research. You will join our group of health research professionals, which includes doctoral and master’s level researchers and analysts in the fields of public health, public policy, behavioral and social science, economics, and data science.  Our work focuses on a wide variety of topics, including health care delivery and payment reform, public health insurance programs (Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare, and TRICARE), health care access and quality, public and population health, data for health research, under-resourced communities, historically marginalized groups, and more.

Duties of the position:

  • Collaborate with senior staff and lead the design and implementation of studies to evaluate health care programs and policies using rigorous methods, conduct analyses, interpret findings, draft reports, and present findings to key stakeholders and policy and professional audiences
  • Contribute to the advancement and quality of health equity research and thought leadership by staying on top of emerging trends, challenges, and perspectives critical to client success
  • Work with senior staff to develop and deliver on health equity research content
  • Serve as advisor and subject matter expert for collaborative research teams addressing health equity in client work and internal initiatives
  • Conduct research that applies principles of equitable data collection, analysis, and reporting using quantitative and/or qualitative techniques
  • Provide expertise to and deepen capabilities of teams conducting work to advance health equity
  • Promote and implement principles of culturally responsive equitable research
  • Contribute to development of proposals for new research projects, particularly those with an explicit focus on advancing health equity
  • Collaborate with external partners and cultivate client and partner relationships
  • Represent the company’s expertise through various mechanisms, such as publications, conferences, technical communications, and testimony
  • Contribute to the growth, expertise, and institutional knowledge of other research staff

Position Requirements:

  • Ph.D. (or master’s degree plus equivalent work experience) in health services research, public health, public policy, economics, social sciences, data science, social work, or other relevant discipline
  • In combination with a Ph.D. or equivalent experience, Sr. Researcher candidates should have at least 7/+ years of relevant experience 
  • Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and a broad understanding of health care systems and health policy issues in the United States
  • Ability to prioritize activities and manage multiple deliverables and deadlines
  • Expertise in health equity and social determinants of health frameworks; experience with cross-sectional health equity data and metrics; strong understanding of intersectionality of social categorizations and its relationship to health inequities
  • Knowledge of and experience with community-engaged research methods and participatory approaches
  • Comprehensive understanding of culturally responsive equitable research principles
  • Experience with community capacity building preferred
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including an ability to translate research findings for a policy audience
  • Strong teamwork skills and stakeholder management skills

The Researcher level designation offers an anticipated annual base salary of $100,000 – $135,000. 

The Senior Researcher designation (10+ years of relevant policy experience) offers an anticipated annual base salary of $120,000 – $170,000.

Both positions may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
