Job Description


GovCIO is currently hiring for a versatile Project Coordinator to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). This position is fully remote.


The candidate will support a variety of initiatives across a vast and dynamic IT organization.Must be a self-starter who can quickly understand new assignments, conduct research, provide relevant content, offer solutions, and is adaptable.Responsible for client interactions and ensuring coordination and desired outcomes are accomplished. The environment is dynamic, and the client needs are often evolving. Flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success.

  • Understands data and numbers with the ability to collect, manipulate, and analyze a broad range of data providing insights on themes/trends

  • Translates data into succinct user-friendly content for executive PowerPoint presentations, portal postings, and other media

  • Gathers information through research, statistical reports and interviews then organizes the data into meaningful content for a wide range of tasks and a variety of audiences/stakeholders

  • Problem solver who can quickly conduct research to address a wide range of topics and then successfully accomplish the work

  • Liaisons across a diverse multi-disciplined, multi-faceted IT organization, serving millions of end-users and Veterans

  • Professionally communicates ideas and updates to senior executives

  • Assesses issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives

  • Supports Technical Tuesday events as a production crew member and event support tasks

  • Assists external teams by providing clear, concise communication and instructions to prepare their presentations

  • Address backlog items on a variety of topics


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research, or related fields

  • 8 years of relevant experience,If no degree, 8-10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

  • Proficient using Excel to collect and analyze data, with ability to create pivot tables, graphs, and diagrams to explain the data

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with ability to make connections, uncover patterns, and identify customer needs; crafting recommended solutions to inform leadership decisions

  • Experience taking imprecise requirements and requests and delivering robust solutions, products, and/or recommendations

  • Experience with organization-wide communication

  • Experience facilitating meetings, collecting action items, and following up with individuals and groups to ensure tasks are completed in the required timeframe

  • Experience with SharePoint and editing pages

  • Flexibility, ingenuity, creativity, diplomacy, and a willingness to learn and adapt

  • Experience working within distributed teams and remote environments

  • Experience using Jira or similar tool to organize and manage work

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft tools – SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, MS Teams

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with VA OIT

  • Experience with Jira to capture project tasks, risks, and progress

  • Understanding of Human Centered Design principles

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain Suitability/Public Trust

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $95,000.00 – USD $110,000.00 /Yr.
