Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to take the lead of solving some of the toughest operational challenges in some of the most sensitive and mission critical clouds.

Amazon is looking for Systems Development Engineers to build, deploy, operate, sustain, and grow the software systems that build, scale, monitor, secure, manage, and automate one of world’s largest networks. The systems team will drive the stability and sustainability of these next-generation systems and discover innovative ways to scale and operate them reliably as we expand. In this role, you will work with systems and software engineers to create proactive engineering mechanisms that will enable your team to manage the health of a number of distributed specialized Linux server fleets and the software stacks that run on them. You will deploy and monitor the systems and automation to ensure that regional tooling is operating optimally. You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes to continuously improve systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be detail driven, and have excellent problem solving abilities. You will be comfortable designing, building, deploying, and operating. He/she will be responsible for systems functionality, performance, and configurations issues. He/she will demonstrate sound knowledge of Unix and Scripting concepts and theory, and have experience participating in systems deployment and support. It is important that you can earn trust of your peers and stakeholders through your body of work and day to day interactions. This position requires the candidate to obtain or maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

-5+ years of recent systems engineering, site reliability, or dev-ops experience in a medium to large scale 24×7 production Linux or other UNIX environment

-5+ year’s experience managing web and application servers, DNS, monitoring, and load-balancing

-5+ years of automation and development skills in advance languages such as Python, Ruby, Rust, Go, Java, etc.

-BS in Computer Science or other technical degree and/or related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience managing scaled cloud systems with a focus on operational excellence
  • Experience working with high-availability, distributed systems and services in a hosting environment including hardware, OS, storage, network, and database solutions
  • Experience in the development and rollout of technical operations processes and new services
  • Experience automating software deployments and following a continuous delivery and deployment model
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP, TCP/IP and other common network protocols
  • Experience with system analysis and troubleshooting in large-scale Linux environment
  • Experience with database technology, both relational and NoSQL
  • Proficiency in one or more of Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash or Java.
  • Working knowledge of agile development methods
  • Working knowledge of data structures/algorithms
