Job summary
AWS Elemental IT Engineering manages the infrastructure and applications for our development and test environment. We empower Elemental software engineering and support teams by delivering reliable infrastructure for building and testing our products and resolving customer issues.
In this role you will interact with software engineering, customer support, and security teams to ensure high availability, security, and best-in-class features for on premise and cloud infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to:
Lead maintenance and improvement efforts for existing systems
Automate common tasks, such as monitoring, patching, and scaling
Lead projects to migrate on-premise tools into AWS
Create easily understood documentation for teammates and security teams
Participate in an on-call rotation for the tools our team supports

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or Master’s degree and 1 year of experience in Computer Science or other technical field
- 5+ years of Linux administration experience, preferably with RHEL/CentOS
- 3+ years leading infrastructure projects
- 3+ years automating tasks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a power user or administrator for Atlassian software (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Familiarity with common AWS services
- Strong understanding of security fundamentals
- IT infrastructure certifications, especially AWS – – -Solutions Architect, Red Hat RHCSA, Juniper JNCIA/JCNP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP
- Experience working with REST API-based services
- Experience with Icinga, Ansible Tower, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Prior experience as a network administrator or security engineer
- Experience in a 24×7 production environment
- Experience maintaining critical systems
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, Powershell, etc.
