Job summary

Want to help manage a team of talented engineers while creating new and exciting test automation for Amazon Games? If so, we are looking for you!

We believe that games will produce some of the future’s most influential voices in media and art. We believe the evolution that began with arcade communities a quarter at a time, growing to the live streams and e-sports of today, will continue to a future where everyone is a gamer and every gamer can create, compete, collaborate and connect with others at massive scales. If you share our beliefs, come join us. At Amazon Games, you’ll have the power of Amazon Web Services’ cloud, Twitch, Unreal Engine, and our digital and physical media publishing infrastructure available as raw material to forge a future filled with amazing experiences for players, broadcasters and creators.

Amazon Games is looking for a full time Software Development manager with talent and expertise in building tools/automation that spans multiple areas of technology. The ideal candidate is a natural problem solver with a passion for gaming, enjoys working with artists and game designers, enjoys finishing projects, and obsesses about the quality of the game constantly. You’ll have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment and innovate, to improve existing processes and invent new ones, and not be limited by “that’s not how we do things here.” You’ll have an opportunity to work on game experiences that push the boundaries of technology. You’ll have a tangible impact on our games, our business and — most importantly — our customers. And you’ll have the satisfaction of being able to look back and say you were a key contributor to something special from its earliest stages.

Key job responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of common frameworks, toolsets, and services that impact the development, quality, deployment, and operations productivity for one of our game studios.
  • Managing a team of local and remote SDEs on a single game
  • Work on an automation framework that takes advantage of Unreal Engine
  • Help define automation/tool roadmaps for studios, while also define and driving automation roadmap for your team.
  • Creating continuous integration and functional automation
  • Provide quarterly career mentoring, and annual career status.

A day in the life

You will work with stakeholders in both QA and the game development team while creating automation that helps expand and ensure coverage. You will have the opportunity to provide feedback on what makes the game fun and what doesn’t. You will help mentor SDEs and drive meeting the goals of our automation roadmap. You will partner with engineers on the development team to help drive the use of QA automation.

About the team

Our team’s mission is to innovate and create new extensible automation for our current project while thinking about how our tools can be used on future projects.

We have a culture built on trust and diversity. Our diversity makes us stronger and we embrace it. We have open and thoughtful debate that encourages everyone to engage in conversations. We help each other grow to meet our career goals and support each other when needed.
