This Associate Corporate Counsel role is based at Amazon’s headquarters in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area, New York or Santa Monica, California and it will support the AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services business team. To learn more about AWS, visit https://aws.amazon.com.This Associate Corporate Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership regarding transformative alliances with AWS Partners and related legal work. The candidate will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. These transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high value agreements. The candidate also will also participate in other Amazon legal projects as directed, including the administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently on transactional and project work.

Key job responsibilities

This role will support the AWS Sales and Marketing team, which is a dynamic and fast-growing organization across the globe. Key responsibilities in supporting this team include negotiating strategic deals with global partners, innovating to modernize and scale our legal support, and analyzing security, competition, and other legal risk in the context of sales operations. This role will also participate in other Amazon Web Services legal projects, including negotiating and drafting agreements and managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
• 2+ years of transactional legal experience, to include experience at a law firm or in-house

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiar with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications or cloud computing services.
• Strong background sophisticated, multifaceted transactions
• In-house experience at a technology or internet company.
• Strong analytical, written and oral communication. Curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow in a team environment.
