POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controls Engineer assists in the design and development of PLC programs for material handling equipment. This position understands equipment, business and customer requirements that drive the design of the technical solutions and participates in all phases of product development lifecycle including the analysis, design, electrical designs, installation support, electrical installation debugging and support of other complimentary engineering staff associated with the electrical hardware engineering. The Controls Engineer resolves somewhat complex site requirement changes and support solutions to complete designed equipment installation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programs systems to support equipment operations
Interfaces with internal engineering/project management and customers to determine system requirements
Supports electrical installation via interfacing to electrical installers
Debugs electrical installation of controls and motor components of somewhat difficult complexicity

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUSTS:
2+ years of experience programming PLCs to support material handling equipment (conveyors, sorters, automated storage and retrieval systems, order picking technologies, and print/apply and weighing systems) operations within a distribution center
Have a good understanding of equipment requirements, business and customer requirements that drive the deign of the technical solutions
Experience using Ladder Logic programming skills to develop PLC software for complex machines and systems via communications interface to external systems such as servers, scanners, scales, etc.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000 software, Controls Logics, LA Platform, HMI’s
